As far back as I can remember, I've been making new years resolutions (and trying to stick to them...). It's something my parents and other influentials have always encouraged for me. Like, right now, my parents are trying to convince my brothers to make their 2016 New Years Resolution to not argue with each other - at least not over pointless things. Try as they might... I don't think it'll ever work...
Despite these resolutions so often being forgotten by the end of January (don't worry, I think I've found a way to tackle that too - I'll tell you abut it later), I've decided to make a post about it - as some form of reminder and force for me to actually stick to them this year.

1. Become more organised.
Organisation is something I've struggled with my whole life as far as I've needed it - in all senses of the word - arrangements of things and arrangement for things. My room and every compartment within it is a mess, my ability to do things ahead of time is severely lacking, I'm awful at making plans. If I'm honest - the only organisation for me is my laptop - and that's only because I mostly use my phone.
This year though, I plan to change this lack of organisation... so far, I've set up a bullet journal and I have the Sprinkle of Glitter Diary that I'm going to use to plan for events that are happening in a few months time rather than in a few days time.

2. Be more confident.
Compared with organisation, I found myself struggling with how I was going to go about improving my confidence. Whilst I like to think I'm good at telling others how to improve their confidence, I'm not so good at building my own. I'm awful at being the first person to to talk unless it's a friend or an adult and I put myself down quite a lot.
I've decided that I'm just going to have to take more pride in myself; go out without makeup when my spots have flared up and know I still look fine, show off my work - whether it's a drawing or a piece of writing or anything else and be proud of everything I've achieved so far.

3. Become more active.
This is something I've tried a few times but never stuck to as it was just an exercise routine in my bedroom, but this year, myself and my friend Hannah have decided to join our local gym and try and go twice a week. My Mum has said that she can also go once or twice a week with me on top of that. Hannah and I are set to sign up on Tuesday.
4. Blog more.
You might have noticed that I haven't posted all the way through December, so I'm hoping to get back to posting once a week - every Sunday. I enjoy blogging, but recently, I've been a bit stuck for ideas. However, earlier today, I sat down and put some rough ideas for the month in my diary ahead of time, and I'm liking how it's looking (and hopefully you will too!).
On top of that, I'm thinking I should probably start using Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram more, so you can follow me there and maybe give me some encouragement!
On another note, if you have anything you want me to blog about or get involved in feel free to let me know on any of those social media, in the comments or by email.

5. Have a more positive outlook.
This ties in with 'be more confident' in a way, but I'm mainly focusing on other people and events in my life. The unexpected. I'm very quick to jump into debates of issues on feminism, inequality and if I'm honest anything I've got an interest in. I got in quite a big argument last month and was told by a friend that sometimes it would be better for myself if I let some things go rather than losing people over it. So, this year I'm trying to be calmer and realise that not everyone will think about things in the same way I do - and whether I agree with them or not is up to me but I don't have to get involved all of the time.
It's nice to be back and blogging, and I'd love to hear about your New Years Resolutions, but as I said at the start of the post, I'm going to tell you how I plan on keeping them this year. Throughout each of the points above, I've talked about how I could go about achieving them, rather than just saying I will. This means I've got a path set out to follow and therefore I'm more inclined to do it. As I mentioned, I've started a bullet journal, and in it, I've included my resolutions and started putting plans to dates to help me out.
Best of luck to anyone with resolutions this year!
See you soon with another blog post,
Alison
