We're each going to say our top five, but as two people whose lives will definitely be including plenty of travelling in the future, these are just a few.
Before we begin, we thought we'd let you know about something new we started up earlier this week. If you follow us on Twitter you may have already seen that we got a shared Instagram! There's not many photos up right now - but as we both like taking pictures so much there's sure to be plenty. It's @flickeroffreedom if you want to follow that.
Now on with our future travels:
Alison:
- Norway to see the Northern Lights. It's said that you can see the Northern Lights from all over Norway, but when you read up on it it says that 'the best places are above the Arctic Circle in Northern Norway or the Svalbard Islands', so I hope to travel there someday. Seeing them has been something I remember always wanting to do - I've yet to understand how they work or when I should go but I will one day.
- Greece. Ever since I was young, I've wanted to visit Greece. I think this stems from the fact that my parents honeymoon was in Greece, in a smaller town with lots of old buildings. We were set to visit a few years back for their anniversary, but it has been delayed. While I want to visit the same place they did, I also want to go to some more of the tourist sites - such as Naples with Mount Vesuvius.
- America. Road trips have always been something I've wanted to try out at least once in my life, and America is definitely one of the places I want to travel around. I want to visit the big cities with all of their tourist stops, and all of the little villages with their quirks, as well as the big National Parks. Alongside this though, there are two places I know I want to see and that's New York and the Disney Parks. I've, again, grown up with these ideas - New York always being the destination for my Mum and I for my 21st birthday, and the American Disney Parks being a family trip - rather than just Disneyland Paris (which I have visited numerous times and love).
- China. When I was in primary school I studied China as a project, and while I don't remember even a fraction of the information I learnt at the time, the idea has aways stuck with me that I want to visit. (There's clearly a recurring theme for me getting ideas for travel as a young child...) My Aunt visited with her school (she's a teacher) a good few years back but I remember seeing the pictures and being given the gifts and knowing I wanted to see the places for myself. I especially want to see The Great Wall of China and all of the old, traditional buildings - as well as learn more about their history and the culture.
- Road trip around Europe. Another idea I've picked up from my parents is a road trip around Europe. We've been visiting different countries in Europe every year since I was tiny (although in recent years it's only been France), but my parents have always said that they want to road trip around Europe once myself and my two younger brothers have moved out. The main places I would like to visit are Holland, Paris, the Alps (I went to the French Alps a couple of years ago on a school trip and really enjoyed it), Switzerland, Germany and Italy.
- Los Angeles, California. As cliché as it sounds, I really want to go to a gorgeous Californian beach during the summer. Either as a pit stop during a road trip, or as part of a month-long vacation whilst staying in a hired villa (that's another one of my goals). The idea of going there during the beautiful summer season and being able to take pictures of all of the amazing landscapes seems like an ideal way to spend a vacation.
- New York. I've already been to New York, but I was 11 and it was for 4 days. As much as I loved it, it was December and we couldn't really go to many places for various reasons. So, I want to go back there, in the summer, and stay there for at least a week so I can make sure I have enough time to go to many of the iconic places there - Central Park, Statue of Liberty, and of course the giant shopping places they have!
- Norway. This is basically for the same reasons as Alison's - ever since I was maybe 8 years old when I found out about the Northern Lights, I've always wanted to go and see them for myself. I'm not entirely sure how they work or why they happen, but all I know that I really want make a point of going there and appreciating the beauty of them.
- Amsterdam, The Netherlands. A bit more of a cultural place, but I want to go to the Anne Frank Museum. (This definitely wasn't inspired by The Fault In Our Stars...) But honestly, I want to go and experience the history and learn about it. I want to go somewhere different, and I think Amsterdam would be a good fit.
- Rio, Brazil. For slightly similar reasons as Amsterdam, I want to attend Rio Carnival. The culture and diversity there, as well as the food and landscape, seems like something that just has to be seen by everyone at least once in their life. I mean, if you had a high quality camera and many brilliant photo opportunities, who wouldn't want to go?
As we said at the beginning of this post, there are many more places that we want to visit, these are just a few. As well as this, I (Alison) will actually be away visiting one of the places I stated above! While it's not a road trip around Europe just yet, I'm going to be spending ten days in France with my family and Sabrina and I's friend, Caitlin. When I get back, Sabrina and I are off to London for Summer in the City, but there will be a France post in the near future!
Hope you're all having a great holiday (if you are on one), leave your top 5 destinations in the comments or tweet it to us - we'd love to have some more inspiration!
See you soon with another blog post,
- Alison and Sabrina
