On Sunday we said goodbye to Flicker of Freedom as it was, and now, after hours of trolling through Pinterest and working away on the site I'm finally at a stage where I can share this with you all! (As well as how I got here!)
There's still a bit to go yet, but with the help of a handy little ebook I'm getting there.
This little ebook is 'Transfer Your Blog in 7 Days' and it has honestly been a life saver for me over the last week - from About Pages, to sidebars, it's all covered in there in a simple but detailed way. There's still a few bits that I need to complete, but here's a big thank you to Imka Webb for creating this resource! You've really helped get my blog headed in the right direction.
But with its new look, where is Flicker of Freedom going now?
It took me a while to figure out these blog goals. Did I want to keep them similar to Old Flicker of Freedom? Did I want a complete re-vamp? Could I find some kind of happy middle ground? I genuinely had no idea, but now I do. Of course, these could change, grow or shorten over time, but for now - here are my Top 3 Blog Goals for Flicker of Freedom!
- I want to blog for me. Before I took over Flicker of Freedom as my own, I always felt that little bit restricted in what I was posted. as joint bloggers, Sabrina and I had to come up with posts that we could both easily write about, whilst being separate - blogging away in our own bedrooms on opposite sides of the village. I also felt that we often tried to please others in what we wrote, and while I still feel this is extremely important as I want you all to enjoy the posts - I want to enjoy rioting them too.
- Start being active social medias. Another thing that held back Flicker of Freedom was our lack of posts on social media for the blog. On my own Twitter, I'm always retweeting 5SOS things for example, and on my personal Tumblr and Instagram, I post pictures that I love. but I was always failing to do this on Flicker of Freedom's accounts - so that's something I'm going to start.
- Post more than once a week. The old schedule for Flicker of Freedom was a post every Sunday. I'm hoping to raise this to two posts a week - and maybe more if I can get enough time put aside that isn't for revision and studying. As it says on the new About Page, i blog because I enjoy it, so I would like to do so more often.
If you would like to have a look at some of the changes I've made on here have a click about! There's a sidebar description, an about page, a contact page and a new look in general. I'm hoping to get some more things up and running soon (and there's some exciting blog post around the corner!).
I hope that you're all just as pleased with the changes as I am,
See you soon with another blog post,
Alison
