Today I thought I'd try something a little bit different here on Flicker of Freedom - my favourites of the month.
If you've been around here for a while, you might remember the Playlists that Sabrina and I used to do each month to showcase our favourite music of the month. As I enjoyed doing that so much, I'm going to be continuing it, but I'll let you in on a few of my other favourites too - from beauty to books, and I hope you enjoy it!

1. My journal (and my new ones!)
We'll start out with something that I've carried all the way through this month, and that's my journal. My journal is a little A5 red notebook with black polka dots and lines on every page with a ribbon to keep my place.
Journalling, like blogging, is something I've been doing since I was little, and the diary I've been using started out on the 21st April 2010! I've gone through stages of writing almost everyday but then not writing for months on end, however, this month, I have written at least a page most days and now it's down to its very last few pages!

Seeing as I was getting so close to the end of my little, red journal, I decided that I would go in search of a new one on one of my shopping trips. I had set my heart on one from Paperchase's new range , but when I went into Waterstones and seen they had Jim Chapman's notebook, I bought that instead! I think that it looks brilliant and bright, which really contrasts the black lining of the pages - hence why it's made it into my favourites.
Alongside this, I picked up Louise's (Sprinkle of Glitter) 2016 diary, which, like Jim's notebook, looks amazing! Not only this, but inside it's got some lovely motivational bits and pieces to help you get through the year.

2. New Records
On the same shopping trip that i picked up the James & Friends notebook, my friend Caitlin and I found ourselves in a second hand shop looking at (and eventually buying) some old vinyls. I picked up, 'West Side Story - Original Soundtrack Recording', 'The Sound of Music', an ABBA single, including 'Take a Chance On Me' and 'I Have a Dream' as well as another single including 'Sail Into Tomorrow' and 'Take Me Home Country Roads'.
I also picked up 'Kylie' by Kylie Minogue earlier in the month so that's been played a lot too recently.

3. Spotify Playlist
On the note of music, if you would still like to listen to my monthly playlist, an idea that Sabrina and I kept going for quite a while (here's last month's playlist) , I did make one on my Spotify this month. Give it a listen and let me know your favourites! I also started a Workout Playlist on there. (Let me know in the comments if you would like me to upload my workout routine and motivation tips.)
This month, I was listening to a lot of Troye Sivan, 5 Seconds of Summer (no change there then...) and Pentatonix. Whenever I wasn't listening to my own playlist, I was always finding myself shuffling through Pentatonix music - so I highly recommend listening to them if you haven't already.

4. Makeup and accessories
This month, there were some recurring favourites in my routine, as well as a few new things! Makeup wise, Benefit Roller Lash stayed at the top, but there was a new addition too... a lip crayon from Avon.
It's in the shade Raspberry Rush, and while I normally prefer a glossy lip, the shade of this matte crayon was something I absolutely loved. However, my school can be quite funny about the make up we wear, so I often found myself working to dull down the intensity of the colour a bit.

As for accessories, I found myself using my bag from New Look quite a bit more that I ever have before. The thing I love most about the bag is that not only does it look lovely, but you can adjust the strap length to suit you. The only problem is that it is a bit smaller than my usual backpacks and handbags - but that has led to me cutting down on the amount I keep in my bag! There's still room for my purse, notebook and phone, so what else do I need?
5. Some little extras
There have been a few other little things I've been loving throughout the month, from activities to new additions to my room.
One of the big ones (literally) was the fun fair and carnival in our village this month! It visits every year, so this was my second year seeing it. It's always good fun - which is helped by the fact that I love fun fair rides! With the carnival, the whole village gets involved so we all go down to watch it, eat plenty of junk food and see all the pretty lights and floats.
I also finally got my cartilage pierced this month, after asking for months and months! If you have any questions on that, feel free to tweet me or leave your queries in the comments section.
And of course, as it's finally Autumn, a favourite has been candles! They just makes everything seem so much cosier. The three that I've been burning the most are a really sweet scented Halloween candle from home bargains, 'Cottage Garden' from Waitrose and an orange and cinnamon scented candle from a little shop in Glasgow called Shearer Candles, that I always visit every time we take a trip back home.
